Terms of Service
Last Updated: April 7, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Ledger iOS application, or by accessing our web platform at ledgerapp.app (together, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
Where we rely on your consent to process personal data (such as push notifications or waitlist communications), we will seek your affirmative consent separately. Your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of these Terms but does not constitute consent to data processing activities that require explicit consent under applicable law.
2. Description of Service
Ledger is a community-powered AI video detection tool available on iOS and at ledgerapp.app. Users can submit video URLs from supported platforms (TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook) to check whether content has been flagged as AI-generated. The Service provides two primary modes:
- Check Mode (iOS app and ledgerapp.app/check) allows you to paste a video URL and view the community's verdict on whether the content is AI-generated.
- Swipe Mode (iOS app and ledgerapp.app/play) allows you to review video frames in a queue, cast votes (AI or Real), and help build our detection dataset.
- Upload-to-Earn allows you to submit videos you believe should be reviewed by the community.
Ledger does not host, download, or store video content itself. The Service only processes URLs, metadata, and community votes.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using Ledger, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you should review these Terms with a parent or guardian before using the Service.
4. Account Registration
Certain features of the Service (such as voting, reporting, and participation tracking) require you to create an account using email/password, Apple Sign In, or Google Sign In. Account creation is available on both the iOS app and the web platform.
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- All activity that occurs under your account.
- Notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for its intended purposes. You may not:
- Submit false, misleading, or spam reports or votes with the intent to manipulate detection results or community consensus.
- Use automated tools, bots, scripts, or other means to interact with the Service in ways not intended by Ledger.
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, trust scoring, participation gates, or other abuse-prevention measures.
- Use the Service to harass, defame, or target any individual or entity.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service or its backend systems.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure, servers, or networks.
- Use the Service for any purpose that violates applicable law or regulation.
6. Trust Score and Participation
Ledger uses a trust-based scoring system. Your votes carry weight based on your accuracy and consistency. Key aspects of this system include:
- Your trust score is calculated based on your voting history and accuracy relative to community consensus and known ground truth.
- Certain features (such as "Report Account") are gated behind minimum participation thresholds (e.g., a minimum number of rated videos).
- Daily usage limits and rate limits apply to prevent abuse and ensure data quality.
- We reserve the right to adjust trust scores, recalibrate scoring models, or reset participation metrics as needed to maintain the integrity of the platform.
Your credibility on Ledger is earned through consistent, accurate participation. Manipulation of the scoring system may result in account suspension.
7. Content and Verdicts
Ledger's detection results and community verdicts are informational only. They represent the collective assessment of the Ledger community and should not be treated as definitive proof that any video is or is not AI-generated.
You acknowledge that:
- Verdicts may be inaccurate, incomplete, or subject to change as more votes are collected.
- Ledger does not guarantee the accuracy of any AI detection result.
- You should not rely solely on Ledger verdicts for decisions with legal, financial, or other significant consequences.
8. Intellectual Property
All content, design, code, graphics, logos, and trademarks associated with the Service are the property of Ledger or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written consent.
By submitting votes, reports, evidence tags, and other contributions through the Service, you grant Ledger a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, aggregate, and analyze that data to operate and improve the Service. This includes use of aggregated and anonymized contribution data to build, train, evaluate, and commercially license AI detection datasets as part of Ledger's data products business. Individual contributions are processed in aggregate or pseudonymous form for this purpose.
9. Third-Party Platforms and Content
Ledger allows you to submit URLs from third-party platforms (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook). Your use of those platforms is governed by their respective terms of service. Ledger is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third-party platform.
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Ledger in connection with third-party content complies with applicable laws and the terms of those platforms.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be available at all times or free from errors or interruptions.
- Detection results or community verdicts will be accurate or reliable.
- The Service will meet your specific requirements.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Ledger and its operators, developers, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including but not limited to:
- Reliance on detection results or community verdicts.
- Loss of data, revenue, or reputation.
- Unauthorized access to your account.
- Any interruption or cessation of the service.
In no event shall our total liability exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $50 USD, whichever is greater.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ledger, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Reasons for termination may include, but are not limited to:
- Violation of these Terms or the Acceptable Use policy.
- Patterns of abusive, manipulative, or fraudulent activity.
- Extended periods of inactivity (where applicable).
You may stop using the Service at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately, though provisions that by their nature should survive (such as limitations of liability, indemnification, and intellectual property) will remain in effect.
14. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You agree to submit to the exclusive personal jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware for resolution of any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service, except as provided in Section 15 below.
15. Dispute Resolution
Before initiating any formal legal proceeding, you agree to first contact us at info@ledgerapp.app and provide a written description of the dispute. We will attempt to resolve the dispute informally within 30 days of receiving your notice.
If the dispute is not resolved informally, either party may pursue binding individual arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) for claims under $10,000. For larger claims, either party may bring an action in the courts specified in Section 14.
You agree that any claim must be brought in your individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class or representative proceeding. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.
